Claire Cook had a big agent, supportive publishers, and advances that allowed her to live well. However, things started to change, and it was not for the better. After landing a new publisher she found tried and true methods that were used to promote her books weren’t working anymore. Cook’s efforts to communicate with her publisher fell on deaf ears. To top it off, books she’d previously written weren’t selling because a publisher she worked with in the past went under. It would be understandable if Cook chose to walk away from the industry as a whole, but what she did next was surprising.
