The creator of Arthur, Marc Brown, is celebrating a birthday today, November 25th! Brown attended the Cleveland Institute of Art, but was not an immediate success in the world of children’s literature. The Children’s Book Council shared this bit of Brown’s history:
Brown was a jack of all trades. He worked as a truck driver, cook, professor, and television art director before launching a career in children’s books.
Which just goes to show you that a long and successful career could be right around the corner. Brown as been a fixture in literature and on PBS for decades!
