Sandra Boynton’s ‘Philadelphia Chickens’ Goes Platinum

Author and illustrator, Sanda Boynton, has sold over 60 million books. But did you know she’s achieved success in the children’s music world, too? “Philadelphia Chickens” album was nominated for a Grammy!

While all of her albums have been big sellers — her CD/songbook combinations have nearly two and a half million copies in print, according to her publisher, Workman — “Philadelphia Chickens” is likely to have gotten a boost from its celebrity cast, which includes Meryl Streep, Kevin Kline, Eric Stoltz, and the Bacon Brothers — Kevin Bacon and his brother, Michael — who sing the title song and star, with a bunch of cartoon chickens, in a goofy music video.
