Top Picture Books from 2015

Have you already checked out all the New York Times Best Sellers from the library this year and looking for other fantastic picturebooks? Only the top authors and illustrators make the NYT best seller list and there are so many other great books out there you may not have heard of! Our own team member, Kristin Ammerman, was a contributor to How Does She this week sharing some of her top picture books from 2015.

One thing we love about this picture book list is the diversity. She’s selected books based in multiple locations around the world on a variety of topics. And there are picture books for a range of ages – from the youngest toddler through an 8-year old. As a bonus, she let kids help her select the books, so there are plenty of funny ones!

Be sure to check out the adorable video, too! The video celebrates Picture Book Month (November). There are two kids in the video and they each share their favorite book: a non-fiction book about a Russian ballerina, “Swan: The Life and Dance of Anna Pavlova” and a fantasy rhyming book “There Was an Old Dragon Who Swallowed A Knight”.

This list of books is great for teenagers looking for something entertaining to bring babysitting, for teachers considering read-aloud books for school, and, of course, for parents reserving books from the library, or looking to purchase a literary addition for their home.

And, of course, we noticed that her kids selected one of our favorite people, and former StoryMaker, Tara Lazar!
