Read Out Loud | Cock-a-Doodle Oops!

Cock-a-Doodle Oops! asks what’s the farm to do when the Rooster’s gone to the … beach? He’s in charge of making sure everyone gets up on time. Who will wake Farmer McPeeper? The guy is a heavy sleeper. Is Pig, Sheep, Owl, or any of the others the right animal for the job?

Lori Degman’s reading of Cock-a-Doodle Oops! was filmed during Angie Karcher’s Rhyming Picture Book Revolution Conference (RPBC). The purpose of the RPBC is to educate and support authors who write rhyming picture books. In addition to the conference an awards ceremony was held to recognize the 2015 Best in Rhyme.

KidLit TV’s Read Out Loud series is perfect for parents, teachers, and librarians. Use these readings for nap time, story time, bedtime … anytime!

ABOUT COCK-A-DOODLE OOPS!

Cock-a-Doodle Oops!Cock-a-Doodle Oops! Cover –  2015 Honor Book, International Literacy Association. Illustrated by Deborah Zemke. When the rooster is away, who is there to ring in the day? Cock-a-Doodle Oops! is the humorous tale of a community of farm animals who band together to help out a rooster who is badly in need of a vacation. How hard can it be to wake up a sleeping farmer? While the rooster is gone, the pig, cow, sheep, and other farm animals attempt to rouse Farmer McPeeper with “cock-a-doodle SQUEAL,” cock-a-doodle MOO, and “cock-a-doodle BAAAA,” with hilarious results. The irresistible humor in this barnyard comedy builds vocabulary while encouraging children to cock-a-doodle-uh-oh along with the silly farm animals.

ABOUT LORI DEGMAN

Via LoriDegman.com

I grew up in a north of Chicago, with my mom, brother and sisters, Rick, Mindy and Julie, and our cat, George.

I attended MacMurray College, where I earned a Bachelors Degree in Deaf Education. Later, I earned a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from National-Louis University. Now, I am an Itinerant Hearing Teacher – that means I go from school to school and work with students who are deaf or hard of hearing. It’s a great job!

I’ve always loved to write rhyming poems and song parodies and I started writing picture books when my sons were young and I was reading to them nonstop!

Currently, I live in a suburb of Chicago with my husband, John, and my dogs, Pippa and Tucker. My sons, Sean and Brian, are grown and living on their own – but I still get to see them a lot!
