Ready Set Draw! The Turtle from ALFIE

If your kids can scribble, then they can draw ALFIE. Grab paper, some colored pencils, and a marker, and join illustrator Thyra Heder for a stress-free guide to drawing a turtle on this podcast episode of Ready Set Draw only on KidLit TV!

We’d love to add your artwork to the Ready Set Draw Art Gallery!

Nia loves Alfie, her pet turtle. But he’s not very soft, he doesn’t do tricks, and he’s pretty quiet. Sometimes she forgets he’s even there! That is until the night before Nia’s seventh birthday when Alfie disappears! Then, in an innovative switch in point of view, we hear Alfie’s side of the story. He didn’t leave Nia—he’s actually searching for the perfect birthday present for his dear friend. Can he find a gift and make it back in time for the big birthday party? From the author-illustrator of Fraidyzoo and The Bear Report comes a warm and funny ode to friendship—even when the friends see the relationship, and the world, very differently.

Thyra Heder was not kidding…..if your child can scribble, they can draw. I am horrible at drawing, and with the technique of scribbling, I feel like I might want to try drawing again. I enjoyed the relaxed presentation which took the pressure off of kids having to be perfect when creating. Please enter me in the drawing for this excellent book that would be great for my recording studio. I will have to hide it from our Tortoise though. He is already miffed that Turtles get more story time than Tortoises. Thanks for showing us we can ALL draw, Thyra!
