Honeysmoke: New Biracial Children’s Book

Long-time journalist and blogger, Monique Fields, has published a new biracial children’s book titled in her blog’s namesake, HONEYSMOKE.

A young biracial girl looks around her world for her color. She finally chooses her own, and creates a new word for herself―honeysmoke.

HONEYSMOKE is full of vibrant full-color illustrations, showing a beautiful brown girl with marvelous curls.The story follows a young biracial girl, Simone, who becomes curious about her color.

After talking to family and friends, she comes to the conclusion that she’s not only Black or White…she’s something uniquely all her own.Through this beautiful story, Simone creates and claims a name all her own, HONEYSMOKE.

This is a wonderful book to read with young children who are discovering their identity, where they fit in the world and what makes them wholly unique. The message and imagery in this book are beautiful, powerful and uplifting.
