From Still Playing School: IF YOU GIVE A MOUSE A COOKIE Counting Activities
We’re back with the Virtual Book Club for Kids series and this month we’re reading IF YOU GIVE A MOUSE A COOKIE. We used chocolate chip cookies to inspire lots of counting fun for our kids!

After we read IF YOU GIVE A MOUSE A COOKIE, I just happened to come across these counting chocolate chip cookies that I made for my early childhood education studies when I was in college. They were the perfect way to introduce the concept of one to one correspondence while counting to the children.

We put the cookies on our work tray and the kids went right to counting the chips, discussing more and less, and flipping over the cookies to self check their counting with the numerals and number words. You can easily make a set of these for your kids or classroom with construction paper and a hole punch!

After exploring the tactile paper counting cookie set, I invited our kids to use our favorite dot markers to fill in the chocolate chips on the printable sheets I had made during quiet time.
