Laurel Nakai – I Have A Light

Have you heard the theme song for Ready Set Draw!? Then you already know Laurel Nakai!

As the music director for KidLit TV, Nakai composed the theme song for Ready Set Draw! at the show’s debut in 2016. Now she has a new EP full of fun and catchy songs that the whole family will love.

I Have a Light – A NEW Album by Laurel Nakai!

If that short intro from Ready Set Draw! has gotten stuck in your head and left you wanting more, then you’re in luck! Nakai has a full-length version on the album that’s just as fun as the original (she even got her kids to recreate their signature giggles!)

Another recognizable tune is “Sunshine, Rainbow, Starlight,” a reworking of “You Are My Sunshine.” Nakai said, “My mom sang the song to me, and I always sang it to my kids. With the new verses, I wanted to enhance that aspect of the song— as a message from a parent to a child.”

When asked about advice for other young songwriters, Nakai said, “When I was a kid, my favorite things to do were to play pretend, and to sing…that’s all songwriting is, playing pretend and putting it to music!”
