Authors Organize Kid Lit Rally for Black Lives

From School Library Journal: Authors Organize Kid Lit Rally for Black Lives on Facebook

Kwame Alexander, Jason Reynolds, and Jacqueline Woodson have organized a Kit Lit Rally for Black Lives on The Brown Bookshelf Facebook page on Thursday June 4 at 7 p.m. EDT. There will be two separate 45-minute conversations, one for young people and a second for parents, educators, and librarians.

“Kwame Alexander, Jason Reynolds, and Jacqueline Woodson have organized a Kidlit Rally for Black Lives,” a Facebook post from The Brown Bookshelf said. “Honored that we will host it on The Brown Bookshelf’s FaceBook Live. We invite you to join us on Thursday, June 4 and spread the word. People around the nation are hurting. This is a time to come together and stand up. Our kids need us, and we are here for them. (School-age kids welcome).”

The Brown Bookshelf is an online resource that promotes awareness of Black children’s book creators.

The Kid Lit community has come together in recent years to march for gun control and against the separation of families at the border.

The Rally will be recorded, and will include ASL interpretation.

Join the rally on Facebook live June 4th at 7pm EDT HERE.
