This Writer’s Life: Explore YOUR Story!

The latest episode of This Writer’s Life with Danielle Davis is “Explore Your Story,” an invitation
for kid writers to do just that in fun, imaginative ways.

Episode 34 provides three activities for exploring a story that can be done before writing it,
while writing it, or before revising it.

Explore Your Story
The first way to explore? Make a mood or inspiration board!

All three activities will help kids creatively immerse themselves in the world of their story to discover and deepen it in new, unexpected ways.

Plus vital creative advice from Maggie P. Chang, creator of the Geraldine Pu early graphic reader series! Maggie speaks honestly from her behind-the-scenes experience as an author and illustrator. She encourages young writers and illustrators with two pieces of advice that address feelings. One, a strategy for creating despite feeling overwhelmed. The other, a crucial question to ask in service of conveying your characters feelings! Any maker won’t want to miss this!

About This Writer’s Life

The goal of This Writer’s Life is to show young writers what writing looks like from the inside with honesty, tips, activities, and cheering-on in order to spark kids’ own writer’s lives. My favorite thing is helping kids develop their identities as writers while tapping into their unique voice and imagination. Plus, each episode features a creative person I admire offering a piece of advice to inspire!
