MAC AND THE MILLSTONE OF TIME
by Timothy Young
ABOUT THE BOOK

Mac and the Millstone of Time is an early chapter book that features the true story of the Old Wye Mill in Maryland, as told by a mouse who accidentally travels through time to different periods of US history.

Mac is a mouse who lives at the oldest operating gristmill in the United States. When he falls through the hole in the center of an old millstone, he accidentally travels back in time, setting off a journey that follows the very history of the mill itself. Mac visits various times in the history of the mill, from its beginnings in 1682 through its part in both the American Revolution and the Civil War. While he tries to get back to his own time, he faces dangers and meets long-lost relatives who help him on his journey. Will Mac find his way back home?

Mac and the Millstone of Time is author/illustrator Timothy Young’s first middle-grade chapter book. He worked with the people who operate the Old Wye Mill and half of the book’s royalties will benefit The Friends of the Wye Mill organization.

ABOUT Timothy Young

A steady diet of junk food and too much television in his youth led Timothy Young down the odd career path he now finds himself on. As a boy, he loved to doodle and play with clay. His mother fondly remembers yelling at him for getting Play-Doh stuck in her rug. He remembers all the toys he played with, the books he read and the many hours spent staring at the television set. He watched cartoons every Saturday morning and Abbott and Costello and old black and white monster movies every Sunday morning. When he Tim in 3rd grade. got home from school he would watch more cartoons or Lost In Space or Star Trek re-runs. All the time he was drawing either the characters from these shows or creating his own weird creatures.
