Read Out Loud with Lisa Wentzell A DOG AND HIS BOY

Join author Lisa Wentzell for Read Out Loud as she shares A DOG & HIS BOY, a special story about the friendship and love between a boy who has a chromosomal disorder that causes developmental delays and his adventure loving dog, Spillway.

Lisa was inspired to write this rhyming picture book to share with other children the experiences of her son Scotty who is differently abled. Readers see all the things Scotty can do and learn that he isn't defined or limited by his difference, but instead lives life to the fullest. This story, perfect for sharing in the classroom or library, encourages children to reach out to others who are different from them with empathy and in the spirit of inclusion.

ABOUT THE BOOK

No matter where they go, Scotty and his special stuffed dog, Spillway, always have fun together. Although Scotty was born with a chromosomal disorder that causes developmental delays, with Spillway by his side, there are always adventures to be had! Join Spillway as he takes you on a journey through Scotty’s life where they experience acceptance, empathy, and inclusion during their unique time together.
